Crack

A pre-built software crack, allowing illegal, full usage of software without registration. Often used to prevent online verification of a serial number, or where a serial number cannot be determined. Software cracks are becoming more common, as more software companies turn to alternatives to a standard serial registration number.

A software crack differs from a key generator (keygen) - while a keygen simply generates a valid serial number, a crack would actually modify a small part of the software itself, to bypass the registration process, or to simulate the effect of a successful registration.
